Microsoft appears to be focusing on a new system optimization solution that will more or less look like CCleaner, the famous app that's already on Windows.

Called PC Manager, Microsoft's new tool is expected to come with features that clearly remind of CCleaner, including handling the storage, checking out the running processes, and managing the applications designed to run at boot.

As noted by The Verge, a few of these features already are part of the default Windows experience, but Microsoft has become creating a dedicated app which brings everything under one roof.

At this time, the app is available using a Chinese Microsoft site, so it's not entirely clear exactly what the company's plans for PC Manager currently are so when we can expect the app to visit live for Windows 10 and Windows 11 users.

Here is the feature lineup of CCleaner to fully understand what a system optimization solution is designed to do:

Standard privacy protection
Standard cleaning
Performance Optimizer
Driver Updater
Complete PC Health Check
Updates apps to reduce security risks
Complete cleaning
Keeps your browsing history private
Detects and removes internet trackers
Keeps you against running out of space
Priority customer support

"Inject instant speed into your machine by freezing resource-hogging apps and programs by removing the unnecessary files taking on room in your hard drive. Clear out errors, broken settings, increase drivers to improve stability. Protect your privacy by securely erasing tracking cookies and history," parents company says.

Of course, it'll be interesting to see if Microsoft is indeed trying to build a fully featured alternative to CCleaner or the company just really wants to move some system features out of the Settings app, but for now, it's remained completely tightlipped on this mysterious bit of software.

Microsoft's Moment 1 update for Windows 11 2022 Update comes with one little surprise (though we knew it had been coming anyway): support for Android apps.

That's right, users are now able to run Android apps on their Windows 11 devices, once they are based in one of the 31 support regions, including the Usa, the uk, France, Germany, yet others.

The Android app support on Windows 11 is run by the Amazon Appstore app, which is now rolling out on devices running the 2022 update as well.

Needless to say, users should also run the Windows Subsystem for Android, and Microsoft says it's been spending so much time with developers to make sure enough apps are for sale to users.

The amount of Android apps on Windows 11 keeps growing

So right now, the feature comes with approximately 50,000 titles, including apps and games.

"Through our partnership with Amazon, you can now access Android apps and games from the Amazon Appstore, generally available in 31 countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, United Kingdom, United States and much more," Microsoft explains.

"With 50 plus,000 titles to select from, it's simple to discover and download your favorite apps and games on your Windows device, such as Project Makeover, Evony: The King's Return, Coin Master, Kindle, Audible, FlipaClip, Lutron and so many more. Enabled by Windows Subsystem for Android?, developers are in possession of even more methods to bring their apps and games to Windows."

The Moment 1 update is currently available as a preview update, so users need to manually check out Windows Update and appearance for updates. Microsoft, however, will start the automated update the following month as part of the Patch Tuesday cycle once the update will show up on Windows Update for those devices alongside other security improvements.

"One in our most loved and highly utilized features, File Explorer, gets better. Windows is always looking for ways to simplify your everyday tasks making collaborating as effortless as you possibly can. So, we're releasing Tabs to File Explorer that let you organize your files and switch involving the folders effortlessly," Microsoft announced today.

Microsoft has released new Windows 11 builds to insiders in the Beta channel from the Windows Insider program, with the company using the same approach as before - one build with additional features already rolling out an additional build with the new features off automatically.

The new builds are the following:

Build 22623.746 = Additional features rolling out.
Build 22621.746 = Additional features off by default.

One of the changes in the build with the additional features is the addition of support for System Tray icon rearranging, something which has previously been contained in the Dev channel builds.

"This build includes preliminary support to rearrange System Tray icons for Insiders who have the machine Tray updates that began rolling out with Build 22623.730. Further improvements for this experience are not far off. As a reminder, these System Tray updates continue to be rolling out and are not available to all Insiders just yet. In case your PC doesn't have these changes, the body Tray experience will stay just like before," Microsoft says.

However, worthwhile to learn would be that the new builds also come having a number of known issues, including some which have previously been confirmed within the Dev channel builds.

For example, Microsoft states that in some cases, the audio stops working after updating to the latest builds, using the company claiming an investigation is currently underway.

The most recent builds also come with a few glitches impacting the tablet-optimized taskbar:

The taskbar sometimes flashes when transitioning between desktop posture and tablet posture.
The taskbar takes more than expected to transition towards the touch-optimized version when switching between desktop posture and tablet posture.
When using the bottom right edge gesture to see Quick Settings, the taskbar sometimes stays stuck within the expanded state, rather than dismissing to collapsed state.

Microsoft has recently released a brand new Windows 11 preview build within the Dev channel, even though no additional features are included, there's two important input changes.

Windows 11 build 25217 has become available for download, and obviously, all users is deserving of it as soon as possible if they are signed up for the Dev channel from the Insider program.

Microsoft says that this new build includes Tamil language improvements, together with a new Tamil Anjal keyboard.

"We began rolling out the new Tamil Anjal keyboard for the Tamil language with Build 25179 and starting today, it's now available to all Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. To include it, make certain Tamil (Singapore), Tamil (Malaysia), Tamil (Sri Lanka), or Tamil (India) shows up under Settings > Time & Language > Language & Region, after which click the "…" next to the language, select Language Options, and add Tamil Anjal (QWERTY) towards the listing of keyboards," the organization says in the release notes from the latest build.

While this doesn't seem to be a big change impacting too many users, it's living proof that Microsoft is extremely committed to increasing the Windows experience for as many users as possible. And offering support for any more native experience is part of this effort.

The second important change concerns the touch keyboard which has been recently overhauled in Windows 11. Microsoft says it's disabling this feature for the time being, not to mention, nobody should be upset about this given this is precisely the function of the Dev channel in the first place - to test features that may not reach production.

"We have disabled the brand new touch keyboard setting that first started rolling to Windows Insiders in Build 25188 for the time being. We hope to create this feature during the future after further refinement of the design. As we've mentioned previously, features we attempt out in the Dev or Beta Channels may not always ship," the company says.

Windows 11 includes widgets, an element which has apparently been in the works since the early development stages of Windows 8.

And needless to say, Microsoft is betting big on widgets, each and every feature update coming with new features about this front and extra polishing.

At this point, however, the experience with widgets seems limited, virtually since first-party widgets are available. Microsoft is definitely likely to bring third-party widgets to Windows 11 users, so the company needs to work together with developers to ensure they are doing develop such capabilities for his or her apps.

The 2009 week, the software giant has published developer guidance for widgets, thus making sure that it's helping software makers discover this new feature from the OS.

Microsoft's resources include widgets terminology and principles, as well as guidance to plan an app's widget experience.

"Windows Widgets are small UI containers that display text and graphics, associated with an app installed on the unit. Installed widgets are displayed inside a grid in the Widgets Board: a flyout plane that overlays the Windows desktop once the user clicks Widgets icon on the taskbar, uses the Windows+W shortcut, or swipes from the left fringe of the screen," Microsoft says.

"Widgets help people remain on top of what's vital that you them by aggregating personalized content and quick actions in the apps they will use. They're quickly consumable and actionable. Widgets are considered unsuitable to exchange apps and websites, but instead provide frictionless access to most-needed information or often-used functionalities that individuals can read/trigger immediately. When designing your widget, consider the type of value it will bring to your consumers."

Obviously, it'll take some time until developers embrace widgets en-masse, but at this point, it's very clear that Microsoft is betting big in the long run about this feature.

I don't what you think, however i take a large amount of screenshots, and due to the super-advanced software that I use, I can automatically add watermarks and save the captures to a configured destination.

In other words, the one thing I need to remember would be to press the right hotkey to take a screenshot of the entire screen or simply of the specific region.

Snipping Tool, which is the default screenshot app bundled with Windows, is basically a pretty advanced app, though it's pretty clear that it lags behind the rest of the third-party alternatives. This is because Microsoft has never seemed very dedicated to updating Snipping Tool in a manner that will make it a fully featured screenshot app, so this is why a lot of people, myself included, chose to stick to third-party software.

The newest Windows 11 preview build comes with one big update for Snipping Tool. The app gets support for auto-saving screenshots, meaning all of your captures are actually automatically held in the Screenshots folder.

The brand new feature is enabled by default on all Windows devices.

"We are rolling out an update for Snipping Tool (version 11.2209.2.0) to Windows Insiders within the Dev Channel. With this update, Snipping Tool supports automatically saving your screenshots so that you can recall them later. Search for your screenshot history in the Screenshots folder inside Pictures. This feature is on by default, however, you can also change this behavior in app settings," Microsoft says.

For the moment, more advanced settings seem to be missing, so for example, you can't change the default auto-saving location. Hopefully, the Windows team pays more attention to the other screenshot apps currently offer and update Snipping Tol with increased advanced capabilities to therefore convince more users to stick by using it.

The support for running Android apps on Windows 11 is among the biggest additional features in the operating-system. Along with the discharge of the recently announced Windows 11 2022 Update marked the development of this innovation to more regions.

As noted by onMSFT, Microsoft has updated their email list of countries in which the Amazon Appstore on Windows is support - the Amazon Appstore may be the one providing users with access to Android apps on Windows 11 devices.

Microsoft states that as well as the Usa and Japan, the two regions where the feature was already available as a preview, users in Italy, Isle of individual, France, Germany, Belgium, Andorra, and Vatican City can all run Android apps on the desktop.

The entire list of countries where Android apps are available around the Windows 11 desktop are available here, and it includes a total of 31 regions.

A large number of apps already available on Windows 11

Microsoft says there are already 20,000 apps and games developed for Android and which can run on a pc run by Windows 11.

"Having the best content fuels a great PC experience. A year ago, we redesigned the Microsoft Store on Windows to be more open and easier-to-use - a one-stop shop for the apps, games and television teaches you love," Microsoft explained within the original announcement of Windows 11 2022 Update earlier this year.

"Today, through our partnership with Amazon, we are expanding the Amazon Appstore Preview to international markets, bringing a lot more than 20,000 Android? apps and games to Windows 11 devices that satisfy the feature-specific hardware requirements. In addition to a growing catalog of apps and games, we're also excited to share that we're moving to the next stage from the Microsoft Store Ads pilot - helping developers get content while watching right customers."

The recently-announced Windows 11 2022 Update, that is now rolling out to devices available, is also affected by an organization Policy glitch that's also impacting the other versions from the operating-system still supported by the software giant.

Microsoft explains around the Windows 11 health dashboard that copying files and shortcuts using Group Policy Preferences might not act as expected.

This occurs on Windows 8.1 and newer os's, including Windows 10 and Windows 11 - both versions 21H2 and 22H2 are affected.

"File copies using Group Policy Preferences might fail or could create empty shortcuts or files using 0 (zero) bytes. Known affected Group Policy Objects are related to files and shortcuts in User Configuration -> Preferences -> Windows Settings in Group Policy Editor," the software giant explains in an announcement.

The available workarounds for impacted devices

At this time, a complete fix is already in the works, but Microsoft states that some workarounds are for sale to users struggling with this glitch:

Uncheck the "Run in logged-on user's security context (user policy option)". Note: This may not mitigate the issue for items using a wildcard (*).
Inside the affected Group Policy, change "Action" from "Replace" to "Update".
If your wildcard (*) is used in the location or destination, deleting the trailing "\" (backslash, without quotes) in the destination might permit the copy to achieve success.

Needless to say, there is no ETA regarding whenever a full fix might be released to users, but Microsoft says it will likely be a part of a future release.

This means a future update going live towards the affected Windows versions could also resolve the bug - the following Patch Tuesday cycle takes place on October 11, but at this point, there's no confirmation that this may be the target date for the rollout of the fix.

One of the greatest changes in Windows 11 2022 Update is the addition of support for tabs in File Explorer, the built-in file manager preloaded with the OS.

Diehard Windows fans know that tabs in File Explorer have always been a top feature request in the operating system, but so far, the company has pretty much ignored it.

In fact, the first attempt to bring tabs to file for Explorer happened in the past using the introduction of Sets in Microsoft Edge. However, the objective of Sets was to bring tabs everywhere across Windows, not only to File Explorer.

Microsoft's Panos Panay says Windows 11 2022 Update was built on user feedback.

"Windows 11 brought a feeling of ease to the PC, by having an intuitive design everyone loves. We're building on that foundation with additional features to guarantee the content and information you need is always at your fingertips, including updates towards the Start menu, faster and more accurate search, Quick Settings, improved local and current events coverage inside your Widgets board, and also the No. 1 ask from you, tabs in File Explorer. All of the helps Windows anticipate your requirements and save you time," he explains.

File Explorer tabs made their method to insiders captured, and with the help of the Windows Insider program, the organization has further polished the experience to ensure everything is working as expected.

"Enhancements to file for Explorer, including bringing tabs to File Explorer that will help you organize your File Explorer sessions as if you do in Microsoft Edge. The new homepage in File Explorer gives you quick access to your favorite and recent files, so you can pin important files for quick and simple access - even including information at a glance of colleagues' actions on your shared files through the power OneDrive and personalized suggestions based on your Microsoft 365 account," the software giant says.
