New data shared by AdDuplex implies that Windows 10 version 20H2, which here is the newest feature update for the operating system, is very near to becoming the number one release currently available on the market.

And this is because version 20H2 has reached a share of 40.1 percent, while Windows 10 version 2004 continues to lead the pack with 40.6 percent. Therefore the lead is incredibly fragile right now, and if the same trend is maintained, then version 20H2 should become the number one release next month.

The proportion of version 1909 is also dropping, so only 11.1 percent of the devices are still running it, while Windows 10 version 1903 is actually losing more ground, using its share dropping to version 3.3 percent.

Windows 10 version 21H1 just around the corner

Microsoft can also be getting ready to roll out a brand new Windows 10 feature update called version 21H1, using the first wave of devices to get it after May.

Windows 10 version 21H1 will be only a small pack of improvements for the OS, so it'll land by means of a quality update.

"Based on feedback and learnings in the past year of extensive remote work, learning and play, version 21H1 will be delivered with servicing technology (like this employed for the monthly update process and how 20H2 was delivered)," Microsoft said.

"Windows 10, version 21H1 have a scoped group of features improving security, remote access and quality. The characteristics we are releasing in this update are focused on the core experiences that customers have told us they're relying on most right now. So, we optimized this release to aid our customers' most pressing needs."

The RTM build of this new feature update ought to be released to insiders within the coming weeks.
